Dr. Heather H. Barker, DMD
Dr. Heather Heaton Barker grew up in Greenville, SC. She attended Wofford College and graduated in 1996 with a degree in Biology. She received her Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the Medical University of South Carolina. During her time at MUSC, Heather voluntarily participated in two week-long medical mission trips to Venezuela and Honduras to provide dental services to poverty-stricken areas. She joined Dr. Dannelly as an associate in his practice in 2003.
Dr. Barker is an active member of the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA). She is past chairman of both the Annual Convention Committee and the New Dentist Committee and currently serves as a member on the strategic planning committee. She was awarded the New Dentist Award by the SCDA in 2010. She is also a fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, which recognizes dentists for their professionalism, integrity, and ethics worldwide. Additionally, she is a member of the American Dental Association, the Piedmont District Dental Society (current membership chairman), the Tri-County Dental Society, and numerous other professional associations, in which she has participated as both a leader and a member. As well as being involved in organized dentistry, Dr. Barker participates in numerous continuing education courses each year to stay updated on the rapidly changing realm of dentistry.
She is married to Brian Barker, a senior vice president and portfolio manager at South Carolina Bank and Trust. They have three dogs, which keep them very busy. They are members of Fourth Presbyterian Church in Greenville. When time allows, she enjoys cooking, reading, and scrapbooking.
